ChatGPT is no longer just a chat box — it can now plug directly into some of your favorite apps and do things for you inside them.
Think: building a Spotify playlist from a single prompt, filling a DoorDash grocery cart from a meal plan, or setting up an Uber ride without hunting through the app. That’s the promise of OpenAI’s new app integrations for ChatGPT.
There are some catches: the rollout is currently limited to the U.S. and Canada, and connecting an app means sharing data with ChatGPT. Here’s how it works and what each integration can actually do.
How to connect apps to ChatGPT
You have two main ways to get started.
1. Call the app from your prompt
- Log into ChatGPT.
- Start your message with the name of the app you want, for example:
Spotify: create a workout playlist with rock from the 2000sUber: help me get a ride from JFK to Brooklyn
- ChatGPT will walk you through signing in and connecting your account for that app.
Once the link is set up, you can keep using natural language — ChatGPT handles the app-side work in the background.
2. Use Settings → Apps and Connectors
If you want to hook everything up in one go:
- Open Settings in ChatGPT.
- Go to Apps and Connectors.
- Browse the list of supported apps.
- Click the ones you want and sign in when prompted.
You can come back to this screen any time to review what’s connected or to disconnect an app with a couple of clicks.
Before you connect: data and permissions
Linking an app gives ChatGPT access to parts of your account so it can act on your behalf.
OpenAI lets each app request specific permissions. For example, if you connect Spotify, ChatGPT can see:
- Your playlists
- Your listening history
- Other profile and usage information
That data helps personalize results — like better recommendations and more accurate playlist suggestions — but it also means you’re sharing more of your activity with ChatGPT than before.
Always check the permission screen before you hit "Allow", and disconnect any app you’re not comfortable with from Settings → Apps and Connectors.
What each ChatGPT app integration can do
Here’s a quick rundown of the integrations available so far and the jobs they’re meant to handle.
Booking.com
Designed to make hotel hunting less painful, especially if you’re visiting a city for the first time.
You can ask ChatGPT to:
- Find hotels in a specific city for chosen dates
- Filter by budget and number of people
- Restrict results to properties near public transport
- Add details like "with breakfast included"
When you see something you like, you jump into the Booking.com listing to complete the reservation.
Canva
Canva in ChatGPT is there to kickstart designs rather than replace them.
Once connected, you can ask for things like:
- "A 16:9 slide deck about our Q4 roadmap"
- "A fun poster for a dog-walking business"
You can specify fonts, color schemes, formats (Instagram posts, stories, slides) and exact dimensions.
AI-generated designs still have rough edges — distorted images, awkward layouts, the occasional spelling slip — but the point is to avoid the blank page. At any time, you can open the design in Canva and refine it.
Coursera
Coursera’s integration is built for discovery.
You can:
- Ask for an "intermediate-level course on Python"
- Compare options by rating, duration and cost
- Get a quick summary of what each course covers before you enroll
Instead of manually combing through listings, you let ChatGPT narrow things down.
DoorDash
DoorDash’s integration focuses on meal planning and groceries, and it’s currently limited to U.S. users.
You can:
- Ask ChatGPT to build a meal plan
- Instantly add all required ingredients to your DoorDash cart
- Review and then check out in DoorDash
Participating U.S. grocery retailers include chains like Kroger, Safeway, Fairway Market, Wegmans and others.
Expedia
With Expedia, ChatGPT turns into a travel agent that never leaves the chat window.
You can:
- Search for flights based on dates, budget and number of travelers
- Ask it to show only certain hotel categories, like "Only show 4-star hotels"
- Browse options for both short breaks and longer trips
When you’re ready to lock things in, you go to Expedia to finalize and pay.
Figma
Figma in ChatGPT is all about structure and visualization.
You can:
- Generate diagrams and flow charts from plain-language descriptions
- Turn brainstorming notes into more formal visuals
- Upload files and ask ChatGPT to create a product roadmap
That roadmap can include milestones, deliverables and deadlines, giving teams a clearer overview they can refine directly in Figma.
Spotify
Spotify might be the most immediately useful integration for everyday use.
You can:
- Create playlists around a mood or activity
- Build a playlist that only includes tracks from a specific artist
- Ask for new artists, playlists, audiobooks or podcast episodes tailored to your taste
- Have ChatGPT add or remove items from your Spotify library
Because ChatGPT can see your playlists and listening history (if you grant permission), the recommendations should get more targeted over time.
Target
Target rolled out a beta ChatGPT integration ahead of Black Friday, but it’s useful for year-round shopping.
You can:
- Ask for gift ideas based on budget, age and interests
- Request themed baskets, like a "movie night" kit
- Add multiple suggested items to a Target cart from inside ChatGPT
Checkout still happens in your Target account, where you can choose same-day Drive Up, in-store pickup or standard shipping.
Uber and Uber Eats
The Uber integration is meant for on-the-go logistics, particularly when you’re somewhere unfamiliar.
You can:
- Set up a trip inside ChatGPT
- Choose between options like UberX, UberXL, Comfort and Black
- Then complete the ride request and payment in the Uber app
At launch:
- It’s only available in the U.S.
- It supports on-demand rides, not scheduled trips.
There’s also an Uber Eats integration for U.S. users. You can:
- Browse nearby restaurants and menu items within ChatGPT
- Then jump into Uber Eats to pay and place the order
Zillow
If you’re house-hunting, Zillow in ChatGPT is there to compress the search process.
You can:
- Describe what you’re looking for in plain language
- Filter by price range, bedroom count and specific neighborhoods
- Iterate quickly as your criteria change
Instead of tweaking filters yourself, you describe the home you want and let ChatGPT work the controls.
What’s coming next
OpenAI isn’t done. The company has flagged additional partners that are "coming soon," including:
- OpenTable
- PayPal
- Walmart
These are expected to launch in 2026.
For now, the app integrations rollout is limited to the U.S. and Canada. Users in Europe and the U.K. can’t access these connectors yet, even if they’re paying subscribers.
If you’re in a supported region, the big question is less "Can ChatGPT do this?" and more "Am I comfortable letting it into my other accounts?" Start with low-stakes integrations, keep an eye on permissions and disconnect anything that feels like more convenience than it’s worth.
